My first visit was for an alternative to my dealer's overpriced quote. Was dissatisfied with my previous mechs of late, and skeptical of the glowing reviews here. Now I am posting my own. Audra and the rest of the staff provided first-rate service and advice, then repaired with factory parts for over 25% less than dealer. Audra's savvy knowledge of business peripheral to auto repair saved me add'l big bucks. Shop has always seemed very busy when I drove past, yet remarkably tidy. This asset to my Auburndale/Murray Hill neighborhood makes an excellent first impression. I won't go anywhere else

Great service ! This is a family owned business, friendly atmosphere and they were really nice to me. They would not try to rip you off. Audra and Bill are extremely friendly and they would try to help you in every step. They are honest and the staff really cares about your auto maintenance. Highly recommended for those who are looking for a nice repair and auto body shop !! change your oil ? need new head light bulbs? ready for a tune up? They have everything for a great price and keeps your car smooth and running !! A+++++

This is probably the first time in a long time where I felt the auto center staff care about me and my car's well-being.

I took my car in on an early Saturday morning to this place because I read good reviews about this place on Google, Citysearch, and Yelp, and I was looking to get my 2003 Nissan Sentra inspected for the emissions test, as well as get an oil change and tire rotation. I encountered some bad luck when I literally got an engine warning light on my way to the shop.

When I came in, a mechanic immediately took my car in for a diagnostic. Within a half hour or less (can't remember exactly), he immediately told me the problem. He made quick recommendations on what I needed fixed. He asked me where I get my car serviced. I told him Mavis and Pep Boys. He advised me to not go to those places in the future because they are looking to sell you more services you don't need and using cheaper parts.

I got a quick quote and no pressure from the mechanic on what I wanted to get fixed. While I was waiting, I noticed other customers did not have to wait long because the staff was accommodating in trying to help get things done as fast as possible depending on the job. Even when someone brought a car to get an estimate of work needed for a car she wants to buy from a family member, the owner of the shop gave an honest opinion by recommending against it after telling her she would end up spending more than she bought the car for and it was not worth the trouble of fixing.
Overall I would go back definitely to this service center because the staff is friendly, honest, and treats the customer like a client

I have been going to Great Bear Auto & Body Center for almost three years now. Of course, I will continue going there because the service is excellent and staff there are very friendly. They did a quality job on my cars every time I went. Also, the price is very reasonable. Most importantly, I do not need to worry about getting tricked. I am lucky to have such a good service center to rely on to take care of my cars. I especially appreciate Danny for his great help and advice every time I go

This is my first review but I really appreciate the service I received at the Great Bear on Sanford Ave. I've been going here for the past year based on recommendations from friends. It's very trustworthy and the people can be either very friendly or straight to the point, both of which are positives. If you're Korean, there are also a few great Korean mechanics (along with a few other mechanics) who can help you. Audra, one of the female mechanics, is amazing. She holds free workshops for women (or anyone) to educate them on auto repair (check for dates on google maps announcements). She's super friendly and I learned a lot from just one session with her. She's really passionate about auto repair and teaching and is the perfect person to go to if you don't know much and are looking for a great auto repair shop. I highly recommend this place.

First to Review

Mechanic, auto repair shop, place to call when my car "surprises" me and car-guru. Great Bear has been around since the 1930s. Of course I wasn't around in the '30s, however, my parents and I have been taking our '00 honda to Great Bear for at least 10 years and they've never disappointed. Danny and Frankie is who I tend to see most of the time. They've got mechanics and owners that speak Korean (plus for my parents) and English (plus for me). Great Bear associates gives me advice that is reasonable. At Great Bear I've gotten my windshield mirror replaced, oil changes, check ups, inspection sticker, re-bolt my license plate when it "fell off" and others, I'm sure. I always feel at ease when I drop off my car at Great Bear. Service is absolutely wonderful. I TRUST these folks, so much so that I drove to Queens from the Bronx to have my car serviced. Cost for repairs seem reasonable. They accept cash, credit for payment.

If you're looking for a new mechanic/auto repair shop in the neighborhood, look no further, go to Great Bear. Call in advance to see how long it'll take for diagnostics. (I usually go at 7:30 AM).

I highly recommend Great Bear. They are honest, fast, knowledgeable, extremely professional. I've had my oil changed there many times, and although I can get it done at my car dealership for free, I prefer to go to Great Bear because it's always a much better experience. I will go there for any and all of my auto needs!?

I brought my car in on March 23rd for a state inspection however I wanted them to check the struts on my car. They took my car in right away, inspected it and informed me that although the struts were low that I can continue to drive because they were expensive to change(very honest). I decided to change them and I needed a wheel alignment as well. Within 4 hours I was home when I am so used to waiting days for my car. The staff were very friendly so was Shari & Audra(owner) who was intrigued on how I found her shop(RepairPal) which is great to finally find a female mechanic that actually owns the shop. I was still having problems after they fixed my car, taking it back that following Saturday and again took me in right away because they believed if they touched it, it's covered & they have to fix it. After I explained to them what I felt was wrong with the car without even interrupting me, they determined it could be one or two things however since they initially repaired my car it was no cost to me. Car now runs great for a 14 year old car. The staff did not ignore me the entire time I was there and it was talking with them liked I knew them for a long time.

GREAT PARTS, GREAT SERVICE, GREAT BEAR! doesn't begin to describe this business. From the enthusiastic voices that answer the phones in the office to the mechanics out in the garage, they are the nicest bunch of people that you could ever want working on your car. They know what they are talking about and tell you like it is. They don't make you put extra money into your car by adding unnecessary labor and parts to the job. Rest assured, the only money you will be spending is what is necessary.

I have used Great Bear for oil changes, inspections and changing my car battery. They have always been courteous and quick. They do great work and you be will extremely satisfied with the service. I don't want to forget the competitive pricing, I have saved quiet a bit using Great Bear! I highly recommend them!?

I've been coming to great bear for 15 years now. why so long? becuase they truly take care of their customers. you make in walk frustrated with your vehicle not working probably, but the majority of times, you'lll get same day service and the end results are most satisfying and it will make you forget about any car problems you had. no over cahrges! no unneccessary repairs or services! And before you leave, Audra will give you some great advice on the maintanence of car. See Danny for diagnostics for your car nad Harry will make sure the job is done right. I live 15 miles away from this sation and my loyaly remains with Audra and her team for many years to come. And i'm their every 3 months for an oil change...thank you, satisfied customer Mike A

as a single woman it is wonderful to have found this service garage which offers competence, honesty and value. had the rating choice been efficient vs. speed I would have given a 5. I have never had to bring my car back in for the same issue it was initially brought in for. It is comforting to know that I do not need to worry about being deceived or workmanship. Car repairs are stressful enough!

As a woman, it is always difficult to find a good mechanic who doesn't think you are completely ignorant and try to totally rip you off. So when I got referred to Great Bear Auto, I was happy to see the women who work there. Audra and Danny are very no nonsense and only does what really needs to be done and doesn't charge an arm and a leg for it. This is a very honest, dependable shop! They do quality work at a reasonable price, and they never do anything that your car doesn't need. I have brought all three of my cars to Great Bear ('07 Mustang, '68 Thunderbird, and '87 Nissan) over the past couple years, and I have never been dissatisfied. There have even been a couple times when I brought a car in for something I thought it needed and was told after they checked it out that it wasn't necessary - no charge! A definite cut above the rest as far as mechanics go...
I also used their auto body shop, when I had a car accident. They took care of everything. And when I got my car back it was in mint showroom condition. Thanks Great Bear. You earned my loyality.
